5 signs you need a mommy mindset reset

"Being a working mom isn’t easy — and if you’re anything like me, you sometimes feel like you’re just getting through the day instead of thriving."

Being a working mom isn’t easy — and if you’re anything like me, you sometimes feel like you’re just getting through the day instead of truly thriving.
Add in the demands of being a teacher — endless grading, planning, and the emotional energy it takes to care for everyone else — and the overwhelm can double.
But here’s the truth: You deserve more than survival mode.
Sometimes, you just need a Mommy Mindset Reset — a fresh mental shift to find your peace, purpose, and joy again.

Here are 5 signs it’s time:

1. You Constantly Feel Overwhelmed

If your to-do list feels endless — both at school and at home — and the smallest setbacks leave you feeling defeated, it’s a big sign your mental load needs lightening. A mindset reset can help you set boundaries and prioritize what truly matters, not just the urgent “to-dos.”

2. You’ve Lost Your Sense of Joy

Remember when you used to laugh freely without thinking about lesson plans or laundry piles? If joy feels distant, it’s not a failure — it’s a cue to reconnect with yourself and the things that light you up outside of work and family duties.

3. Guilt is Your Constant Companion

Whether it’s “mom guilt” for working late, “teacher guilt” for not giving 110%, or “life guilt” for wanting time for yourself, living in a constant state of guilt is exhausting. Shifting your mindset can help you embrace both your career and your family without apology.

4. You Feel Disconnected from Your Purpose

If you’re questioning what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and who you’re doing it for, it’s time to refocus. As a teacher-mom, your purpose is powerful — but you can’t lose yourself in trying to be everything for everyone. A Mommy Mindset Reset brings you back to your core values — not just the chaos.

5. Self-Care Feels Impossible

If taking five minutes for yourself feels selfish or impossible, that’s your signal. You pour so much into your students, your family, your work — but you can’t pour from an empty cup. You deserve space to recharge without guilt.

Ready for Your Reset?

You don’t need to overhaul your whole life — just your mindset.
Through small, intentional shifts, you can find balance, peace, and purpose again, even with a classroom full of students and a busy home life. When I feel overwhelmed, I love to take 10 quiet minutes with my favorite journal. This simple one has truly helped me slow down and reconnect with myself. Lighting a cozy candle has become one of my quickest resets after long teaching days — it’s amazing how scent can instantly shift your mood.
